This research systematically investigates the contexts and factors contributing to the formation of the "Qur'an as human discourse" current in contemporary Islamic thought, with a case study of North Africa. In confronting the challenges of the modern world, the Islamic world has witnessed the emergence of discourses that, employing historical-critical approaches, have engaged in the reinterpretation of religious texts. The radical manifestation of this current interprets the Qur'an as a product constructed within the historical, cultural, and linguistic context of the era of revelation. The findings of the research indicate that the formation of this current must be analyzed within three main domains:Historical contexts include the civilizational shock caused by Western colonialism and the crisis of internal decline, which led to the revival of the Neo-Mu'tazili movement. Over time, this movement shifted from intra-religious renewal to the redefinition of the foundations of religion.Intellectual-epistemological contexts encompass the influence of Orientalist methodologies, the selective revival of the Mu'tazili heritage, and the application of modern and postmodern schools of thought (such as philosophical hermeneutics, deconstruction, and feminism) in the analysis of the Qur'an. The research demonstrates that the "Qur'an as human discourse" current is a multidimensional and complex phenomenon that has emerged as a response to the crisis of Muslim identity in the face of modernity. Understanding this current is essential for analyzing the contemporary intellectual developments in the Islamic world.
