Abstract
Documented history shows that the majority of the ancient Greek scientists were concern about the first creature which came to existence. At that period, the material elements such as water, fire, air were introduced as the primary source of the world. Peripatetic philosophers through philosophical theories, such as theory of future possibility and theory of the One concluded that intellect is the first emanation; because it is the one, indivisible and superior. On the other hand, Muslim mystics emphasized on the unfolded existence and muhamadan reality. While the Qur'an does not stipulate to the first creature; narratives point to the intellect, light, spirit, and pen as being the first creature. Studies show that this interpretation is not inconsistent with what philosophers and mystics have expressed, but they all show different manifestations of the same concept. As plenty of divine names and attributes are abstracted from the divine simple essence, His first appearance is also considered similar. This paper seeks to demonstrate the harmony between religious traditions and intellectual achievements on the first emanation.
